Safety

The safety of your child at Andersen Elementary is of the highest priority.  Please help us by:

1. Following the pick-up and drop-off procedures
2. Check-in at the office & obtain a name badge anytime you are on campus. All visits into the classroom must be scheduled ahead of time. Please check with your child's teacher to find out more.
3. Help your child understand policies on bicycle & scooter riding to & from school
4. Keep your contact information updated

When it is necessary for a student to leave prior to normal dismissal time, the student must be checked out at the office. Written permission, signed by a parent/guardian, must be provided to the school office before your child will be released to anyone other than those individuals listed on your child's emergency/health card.

Students who ride a "vehicle" to school must follow the policies outlined below:

1. Child MUST be in grades 2-5 to ride (district policy).
2. Students MUST walk across the crosswalk and along the bike path (walk bikes through Pennington crosswalk and mount bikes at Pennington/Manor Streets).
3. Bikes should be LOCKED in our secure area.
4. Skateboards and scooters MUST be stored safely in the classroom. (If storage becomes a safety issue, these vehicles will NOT be allowed).
5. Scooters MUST be folded and carried (not rolled) at all times while anywhere on the bike walk or campus. Motorized scooters are not allowed on campus.
6. We strongly urge all students who use any of these modes of transportation to wear a helmet.
